Paste a Threads username or profile link. StalkFace builds the links to the profile on threads.com, with its replies, media and reposts tabs, plus the Instagram profile with the same username. Public Threads profiles open in a browser without an account; nothing is fetched here.
Yes, in a browser. A public Threads profile opens at threads.com without logging in: the name, bio, follower count and the latest threads. The app is different. It asks you to sign in before it shows anything.
Logged out, Threads lets you look for a while and then puts a login prompt over the page. Opening the profile again, or a single thread, usually works. A private profile shows only its name, picture and follower count to anyone who is not an approved follower.
What opens without an account, and what does not
Opens: public profiles, single threads with their replies, and the profile tabs.
Opens: the follower count, but not the list of followers.
Does not open: private profiles, beyond the name and picture.
Does not open: search, the feed and anything you would need to reply or like.
Does Threads tell someone you viewed their profile?
No. Threads does not show anyone who looked at their profile or read their threads, logged in or not. Authors can see how many views a thread got, but not whose. Your name only shows when you act: a like, a reply, a repost, a quote or a follow.
One person, three profiles
Threads, Instagram and Facebook are all Meta, and many people use the same name and photo on all three. The username on Threads is usually the Instagram username, so the Instagram link above is a good next step. For Facebook, paste their profile link in the form below to open their public Facebook profile, which works the same way: they are not told.
Common questions
Can I view a Threads profile without an account?
Yes, if the profile is public. Open threads.com/@username in a browser, or paste the username above. The app needs an account; the website does not, at least until it shows a login prompt.
Does Threads show who viewed your profile?
No. Threads has no list of profile visitors. Authors see how many views a thread got, not who viewed it.
Can I see a private Threads profile?
Only as an approved follower. Logged out or not following, you see the name, picture, bio and follower count, nothing else.
Can I see someone's Threads replies without logging in?
Usually, if the profile is public. Open the Replies link above. If Threads shows a login prompt, open the link again or open one thread at a time.
Is a Threads username the same as the Instagram username?
For most accounts, yes, because they were made from Instagram. Some people change one and not the other, so check the photo and the bio.
Does Threads tell someone I looked at their post?
No. Reading a thread sends no notification. A like, reply, repost or quote does.
What is a Threads viewer?
A page that opens public Threads profiles and posts in a browser, with no account. This one takes a username and builds the links to the profile, the replies, the media, the reposts and the Instagram profile with the same name.
Can I view Threads without the app?
Yes. threads.com works in any phone or computer browser. If a link keeps jumping into the app, paste it into the browser's address bar instead.
Is there an anonymous Threads viewer?
Every way of looking at Threads is anonymous, because Threads shows nobody who viewed a profile or a post. Your name only shows when you like, reply, repost, quote, follow or send a follow request.
Can I see someone's Threads followers without an account?
You see the count, not the list. The list opens when you are logged in, and on a private profile only for approved followers.
Can I search Threads without logging in?
Not inside Threads, where search needs an account. Google works: search the person's username or name together with site:threads.com.
How do I find someone's Threads from their Instagram?
Paste their Instagram username in the box above. Most people kept the same name on Threads. If that does not work, look for the Threads link next to the bio on their Instagram profile.
Why does Threads ask me to log in after a few posts?
Threads lets logged out visitors look for a while, then covers the page with a login prompt. Reload the page or open the profile link again. A single thread link usually still opens.
Threads viewer without an account or the app
You need neither. Any phone or computer browser opens a public profile at threads.com/@ and the username, with no account and nothing to install. Here is the quickest way through.
Type the username or paste their profile link in the box above and press the button.
Open Profile and threads. On a phone with the Threads app installed, a tapped link can jump into the app, which wants a login. Copy the link and paste it into the browser's address bar instead: the website opens and stays open.
Scroll the profile. When a login prompt covers the page, reload it or open the link again.
Tap the text of a thread to open it on its own page, with every reply under it. Each thread has its own link you can save or share.
That is all any Threads viewer can do. A site that asks you to install something or type your Instagram password gets you no more than these links.
Anonymous Threads viewing: what leaves a trace
Looking leaves no trace. Threads keeps no list of profile visitors and no viewer list on posts, so opening a profile, reading threads or scrolling replies shows your name to nobody, logged in or not.
Seen by nobody: profile visits, reading threads and replies, opening the media tab, checking the follower count.
Seen as a number only: views. The author gets a total for each thread, never the names behind it.
Seen with your name: a like, a reply, a repost, a quote, a follow or a follow request.
Seen by accident: a stray tap on the heart while you scroll. Logged out, that cannot happen.
Facebook works the same way for profiles, with one exception: stories. The anonymous Facebook profile viewer explains where your name does show up there.
Reading someone's threads and replies
The main tab of a profile holds their own threads, newest first. Replies holds their answers to other people, Media only their photos and videos, Reposts what they shared from others. The links above open each tab directly, so you skip the scrolling.
Old threads: logged out, Threads shows a limited stretch of the profile before it asks for a login. Logged in, you can scroll back to their first post.
One thread at a time: a thread link opens the full conversation, even when the profile page has started asking for a login.
Deleted threads are gone for everyone else at once. There is no archive a visitor can open.
Search: Threads search needs an account. Without one, use Google. Search the username together with site:threads.com, plus a word they might have used.
Threads followers and following lists
Without an account you see the follower count, not the names. The lists open when you are logged in.
Logged in, tap the follower count on a public profile. Two tabs open: Followers, and Following for the accounts they follow.
On a private profile the count still shows, but only approved followers can open the lists.
Threads and Instagram followers are separate. A big Instagram account can have a small Threads, and the other way round.
Opening someone's followers list sends them nothing.
Private Threads profiles: what shows
A private Threads profile shows its name, username, picture, bio and follower count to everyone. Its threads, replies, reposts and follower lists stay with the people it approved.
The only way in is a follow request, and the request shows them your name and picture.
Teens start out private on Threads, the same as on Instagram.
Private on Instagram does not mean private on Threads. Each app has its own setting, so check both profiles.
Apps that promise to open a private Threads profile cannot. Threads decides on its own servers what to send, and a stranger gets the same name, picture and count you already see.
Find someone's Threads from their Instagram
Start with their Instagram username. Most Threads accounts were made from Instagram and kept the same name, so threads.com/@ plus that username is usually the right profile.
Copy the Instagram username, the part after instagram.com/.
Paste it in the box above and open Profile and threads.
Compare the photo, the name and the bio. If they match, it is the same person.
No profile under that name? Open their Instagram. Many profiles show a small Threads link next to the bio, and tapping it opens their Threads.
Same name, different photo? Fake accounts copy names and pictures. A new account with few followers and recent posts only is worth a second look before you trust it. The Instagram profile viewer covers the Instagram side the same way.
