Reading a timeline without scrolling it

A Facebook timeline mixes posts, shares, life events and things other people wrote on it, and it loads a few at a time. Facebook's own search can list a profile's posts by year, by week or by month, and that is what the links above build.

Paste the profile link and press the button. The Stories row under Profile opens the person's own posts. Under Tags you get the posts other people tagged them in, under Liked the posts they reacted to, and under Comments the posts they commented on. Use the time selector to jump straight to 2016 or to this month.

Which posts are public

The audience selector on each post decides. Public posts open for anyone. Friends posts open for friends only. Posts with a custom audience open for the people named in it. When Facebook rolled out profile lock, it also moved every older public post on a locked profile to friends-only in one go, so a locked profile shows almost nothing here.

Comments are different. A comment is visible to whoever can see the post it sits under. If the person comments on a public Page post, that comment is public even if their own profile is private.

What the post links are good for

Finding what someone wrote in a specific year without scrolling five years of timeline.
Seeing the public conversations they join, through the comments link.
Checking which posts got the most reactions, since Facebook sorts by relevance.

Common questions

Can I see posts set to Friends only?

Only if you are already one of their friends. StalkFace does not change what Facebook shows you, it just gets you there faster.

Can I limit the results to a date range?

Yes. You can narrow to this week, this month or this year before you open a link.

Does Facebook tell the person?

No. StalkFace never touches their account. It builds a search link, and Facebook does not notify anyone about searches or profile views.

Can I see posts from a specific year?

Yes. Pick the year in the time selector above the grid. The posts link narrows to that year, and Before 2009 covers the earliest ones.

Why can I see someone's comments but not their posts?

Because comments take the audience of the post they are under. A comment on a public post is public, while the person's own posts may be set to friends.
