How to look at someone's Facebook Marketplace profile
Every Facebook account that buys or sells on Marketplace has a Marketplace profile, separate from the main profile. There are three ways to reach it:
From a listing: open any item they are selling and tap their name under the seller details.
From Messenger: in a chat about a listing, tap their name at the top.
From a profile link: paste their link or numeric ID above and open the Marketplace link the page builds.
The third route is the one people look for, because the main profile rarely has a button for it. The link is facebook.com/marketplace/profile/ followed by the numeric ID, and it opens in your own Facebook session.
What a Marketplace profile shows
Their name and profile picture.
The items they are selling now, often with an approximate location.
Ratings and reviews from people who bought from them or sold to them, once they have enough of them.
The year they joined Facebook, which tells you how old the account is.
You need to be logged in, and Marketplace has to be available where you are. Sellers can see how many people viewed a listing, but not who.
Why the link needs the numeric ID
The Marketplace link works only with the number Facebook gave the account, not with the username in the profile link. If the link you have is facebook.com/profile.php?id= followed by a number, that number is the ID. If it has a name instead, open the profile on a computer and read the ID from the page source, the way the Find Facebook ID page explains.
Before you buy or sell
Check the join year. A brand new account selling something expensive deserves a second look.
Read the ratings, and look at what else they have listed.
Meet in a public place, and pay only once you have the item in your hands.
