Past events and upcoming events

Facebook keeps a person's events in two lists. Upcoming events are the ones they responded Going or Interested to and that have not happened yet. Past events are the same responses for dates already gone, and they go back years. Both lists are visible when the event is public and the person's response was public, which is the default for public events.

Paste the profile link and press the button. Future Events under Profile opens what is coming, Past Events opens the history. Each event links to its page with the date, the venue, the host and the guest list.

What an event page shows

The venue, which is usually a Place with an address and a map.
The host, which is a Page or a person.
The guest list for public events, split into Going and Interested.
The discussion tab, where people post before and after.

Private events show nothing to non-guests. Friends-only events show the basics to friends and nothing to anyone else.

Reading the history

Past events are the most useful set here, because responses pile up over time and few people ever clean them. Concerts and festivals show taste. Local markets, runs and community events show where someone actually goes. Recurring events, the same pub quiz every month, show routine. Pair the list with the Places links to see where the person checks in.

Common questions

Why is the past events list short?

Facebook keeps far less event history public than it used to. What you see is what is still indexed.

Do I need an account on StalkFace?

No. You paste a profile link and get search links back. You open them in your own Facebook session, in the same browser.

Does Facebook tell the person?

No. StalkFace never touches their account. It builds a search link, and Facebook does not notify anyone about searches or profile views.

Can I see events someone was invited to but did not answer?

No. Facebook only lists events the person responded to, and only when the event and the response are public.

How far back does the past events list go?

As far as the person's responses go. Facebook keeps them, and many profiles show events from a decade ago.
